This is pretty crazy...

yeah. this track is really pretty insane. there are very jazzy parts, they are tribal-ish parts, there are glitchy parts, and there even some rock-ish parts.
the really great thing about this is that each part is really, really good. and each of the parts fit together, even though there is that one awkward pause between two different moods (or at least i think so :/ ) because its such a nice, slow, groove-y thing going on the whole time.
in fact, my only complaint with the entire song is that there is no real ending... i understand that it certainly builds to a point, then sort of mellows out a bit for awhile, but the length of the mellow part really makes it seem like there would be a second, more glitchy chaotic ending. and there wasn't, and it was kinda dissapointing.

but really, with or without a loud ending this song is really, really good. so great job.

thanks for the review,
u noes i like to mix different styles and moods within a track, keeps me interested.
as for the ening, yeh, i really don't like the vocals on it for a start and it is indeed a work in progress, seem to have a lot of them recently, i hope i eventually get to finish em all.

mhmm....

well, this is shortish, but i do like it. its very high energy the whole way through, but that doesn't really bother me because the length is kept down. a very interesting listen, but not very friendly in that there is alot of noise. i don't really doubt that's what you were going for. i do like how it maintains the epic feel of the other stuff you've made that i've listened to-the epic opera-y vocal-type things in the background do give it that "battle" feel and contribute to the epic feeling. still, this isn't as strong as the other thing that i reviewed that you've made more recently, but i was interested in this one because it is a different genre than the other stuff you make, and you do it well.
its a very nice track.

ProfessorChaos22 responds:

Fair enough. Thanks for the informative and mature reviews you have provided. This song is purely Industrial, I am currently working with a guitarist and another programmer on this song. It's going to be much longer.
I usually write classical stuff, but I do like to listen to heavy industrial, so I decided to give it a shot.
Thanks again!

Very, very strong.

sounds professional. it really does. wouldn't seem out of place in some sort of medieval video game/movie or something.
everything is perfectly coordinated, but the beginning and the end are standouts, as they should be. the middle is really good too, its just not nearly as energetic or exiting as the other parts--its more for suspense. the song really feels like it goes somewhere, and it is certainly very, very epic. the drums are very, very strong.
really, the only minor complaint i have with this track is that the main melody seems a bit common. as in, it gives the "have i heard this before?" feeling, even though i know i haven't. it just seems very similar to the melodies for alot of other songs like this. this might just be me, though.

this is a very, very good song, sounds professional, and is very refreshing compared to what i normally find on the audio portal.

ProfessorChaos22 responds:

Thanks for the review, and yes I was going for "Have I heard this before" sound. It's actually inspired from the Superman Theme Midway March. But it's not the same, Midway March is in a Major key dominantly, mine is a minor key.
Thanks again!

loops!

well, i see you're using garageband. i use garageband too. but it looks like you're just using the preset loops, and that's sorta lame. if you're just trying to learn and play around that's fine-i did that too-but it really shows in the final product. my favorite thing about garageband is the ability to edit all the software sounds to the minutest detail and to play with all the distortions and most importantly, to write your own stuff.

so i'd really be much more interested in something you make completely from scratch, if you let me know when you make that, i'd be sure to listen.

if you have the time, check out my newest song (mostly made with garageband :) ) "As the Ocean Retreats". i'd really appreciate a review/listen.

This isn't really my best work at all, so, I'm not hurt. Listen to my other work, they're much better.

but i don't want to

well, this track is short, and pretty repetitive, and awkward at times. but it's also pretty unique and there are some cool layering parts at times. so there's alot that could have been worse.

the beginning was slow, which is alright because the build up was pretty nicely handled. the beat is pretty nice, and fits the song, except towards the end with the ostinato synths. at that point, the claps/whateverpercussion felt off beat and awkward, and should probably be removed/redone. the entire end itself is drawn out far too long, considering its a pretty loud main synth with a somewhat-annoying background noise.

still, the beginning is pretty nicely done, and if you worked on this one for awhile, it could be something very enjoyable. so keep it up.

if you get the time, could you check out my page and listen/review my latest song, "As the Ocean Retreats"?http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/view.php?id=1450

Something different, something real

This is a very nice track. I listened to it earlier today, before you reviewed one of my tracks, with the intention of writing a review. But I had no idea what to say. The music itself is infectious, the beat and almost far-east sounding plucking fits very well. And I totally dig the way it slows down to a crawl and picks up again. The sounds you used at this part were perfect. It was a very cool, very sobering effect for what is an otherwise energetic song. In fact, my only problem with the entire song was how frequently it happened. I think it may have been more poignant if it had been more sparsely used. Also, the song itself gets sorta repetitive, but not to the point of annoyance because its such an interesting listen.

So a really, really good job.

frantic...

first off, this doesn't really seem like a drum and bass song to me, but you said to ignore that.
so i will.

the song is frantic, that's pretty apparent from the onset. i didn't really like the very beginning, before the beat kicks in, but its short and therefore forgivable. it was too loud, and sounded sorta random. the beat was hectic, loud, and frantic. the layers of synths that you piled on to the song only furthered that sense of somewhat-crazyness.
the main problem i had with the track is that the fact that it was very crazy sounded led to it to seem unorganized at parts and downright random at worst. the song didn't really seem to be going anywhere, it was just exploding in noise here and there. constantly changing sounds, all very, very loud, and the fast beats and pads sorta made it so the song doesn't have the ability to stay in my head, even after i've listen to it multiple times.

still, it is very good at times, and very fast paced and frantic all the time, so if that's what you were going for, good job. despite the problems i have with it, its certainly a good or even very good track. so sorry if this review seems overly negative, because it shouldn't really be.

anyways, if you get the time, could you stop by my audio page and review my newest track, "As the Ocean Retreats"? i'd really appreciate it, thanks.

More techno...

well, how good this song is depends on what your goals for it were.

you've got a pretty standard techno song, with the pounding bass and the clap, along with a high pitched (and somewhat annoying) synth with a pretty normaly melody. not much atmosphere, not much feeling-which of course can be hard to do with software instruments but keep trying on that. its a demo, so it doesn't really matter that its repetitive because it doesn't last long. a good point was when you had the melody being played by multiple voices, but it was still sorta annoying.

so, if you were aiming to make a pretty good techno loop that sounds like most everything else on this site, you did it. and you did it pretty well, so you deserve credit for that.

but, if you wanted to make a stand-out song that i'll actually remember ten minutes from now and want to download and listen to over and over, you didn't really do that at all. try to innovate.

sorry if this sounds overly harsh--its really not meant to be. its just that there are alot of songs just like this on newgrounds, and it'd be nice if you could define your own sound. still, a pretty good job on the track itself.

if you get the time, could you stop by my page and review whatever is newest? i'd appreciate it, thanks.

fast.

I noticed you reviewed two of my songs, and called them both original :o.

Anyways, this isn't very good. Let's seeee, its fast. This is a fast song. The beat isn't awful. The melody thing is pretty fast also.

Someday, you're going to submit a reviewable thing. Then, I'll review it. That'll be fun.
I'm totally looking forward to that.
